Ancestral Lima Downtown

A great place to stay in the historic district.

Pros: The staff were all exceptionally helpful. Sebastian, Susan and Alfredo, in particular, went out of their way to look after us, following an issue with our room on the first night. The location could not be better for access to the main square and historical district. The courtyard restaurant is a work of art.

Cons: The bedroom, with private bathroom, was comfortable but very warm.

Pros: Location is second to none in central Lima. Very beautiful building and patio interior. I was there soon after the hostel opened so a few things were still being worked on. Dorm room very spacious, with big lockers. No kitchen. Kind and helpful staff.

Comfortable but a bit too quiet during my brief stay

Pros: The 150 y.o. property is stunning. It shows like a museum. The staff is solicitous, most of the time. Beds in the shared rooms have curtains, although only on the side.

Cons: Long flight of stairs at the entrance, although the receptionists helped me with my bags. Bathrooms are a bit far from the rooms in an area which is exposed. It may be a problem when it’s raining or cold at night. Beds should have curtain all around. Bathrooms should have bath rugs. There is no kitchen and you have to pay for the towel. Breakfast should be included at their price point.
