Amazing hostel, more like a hotel, 100% recommended

Pros: One our favourite hostels we’ve ever stayed at, more like a hotel than typical hostel. Spotlessly clean, amazing quirky design using recycled materials, comfortable bed and great shower. Fully relaxed here just a shame it wasn’t for longer. The owner made such a special effort to cook some gluten free food for me which was very much appreciated. They allowed us to relax in the garden and use the pool after check out until our bus for due to leave that evening. Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

Cons: This isn’t a complaint at all but the room was on the smaller side but completely adequate for what we needed, if you generally need space then we recommend you pay for a bigger room to enjoy it a little more.

Great hostel for a relaxing stay close to Huachuchina

Pros: The location is great, only a 10 minute walk to Huachuchina and quiet enough to get some decent rest at night. The staff were all lovely and food was good. It's perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the desert.

Cons: Our initial room was by the road which was noisy from traffic throughout the night but they kindly moved us and it was much better. The walls are quite thin so you can hear people talking etc in the rooms beside you.

Quiet hostel in Huacachina

Pros: We stayed in Upcycled Hostel 1 night during our stay in Huacachina. Fatima is really nice, replied to all our questions already before we arrived and organized the transfer to and from the bus station. The hostel is not exactly in the oasis, but not really far. I don't know if it is feasible to walk to the oasis, specially in the night, but the hostel has a tuk tuk service that in 5 minutes brings you to the oasis. The hostel has a nice ambient, very coloured and comfortable. It is not a party hostel like the ones in the oasis, so it is suitable for who wants to stay near the oasis but requires a bit more tranquillity. The hostel also has a restaurant that serves dinner and lunch.

Pros: Brilliant outdoor communal area. While it is located 5mins outside of the oasis, this allows it to be much bigger than hostels inside it. It was also extremely easy to get a taxi into the oasis, the hostel also has its own tuk tuk. Great staff, nice decoration and good food.

Cons: Walls are thin so you will be woken up by other travellers getting up early for sunrise tours etc.

Pros: The bed was very comfy and the staff were really nice. The bloke who was usually on the door gave me a ride in his tuktuk for 10 soles back to the coach station which made things very easy. Food was OK and pisco sours were great :) Some may see the distance to walk to Ica itself and Huacachina as a negative but I liked being halfway between both. Huacachina took 20 mins and into the main city about half an hour if I remember correctly.

Cons: It was a bit slow being seen to at the bar/reception at times. A curtain on the bunks would be nice but I knew they didn't have these before I stayed!

Oasis before the oasis

Pros: Oasis in the middle of chaos. We were there on Peruvian Independence day and this hostel was a quiet and cool oasis amidst the chaos of Huacachina.

Cons: Because of the holiday it was very expensive.

Pros: The hostel has a great setup and atmosphere. Our room was very clean and comfortable, including the shared bathroom. The staff were very helpful with booking tours, buses etc. The location is just outside of the actual oasis which we really liked as it was quieter and a good place to relax during the day.

Cons: The food seemed a little overpriced - but it was always very good!
