Great start to the trek

Pros: Great place to start the trek. Staff are super helpful and the views are incredible. Loved it! The walk up to the lake is great and the staff will help you with any question you have about the trek. Good food and packed lunch.

Pros: Perdect position to visit the humantay laguna. Very good abundant breakfast (not included). Hot drinks available at any time. Many bathrooms, very clean.

Cons: Breakfast and dinner not included. Poor dinner served at 5 pm for a high price.

Perfect stay for your first night of the Salkantay Trek!

Pros: It seems very cozy and small, but around 40-50 other people stayed here while we were there. Dinner and breakfast are together which is fun since you meet a lot of people that you’ll see throughout the other days of the trek. We had a private room which was some sort of cabin with a glass roof. We enjoyed our privacy and night under the stars!

Cons: Only one shower for so many guests seems a bit tight. The water was warm though.

Pros: - cabins were cleaned and bed sheets changed, towel provided - unlimited free hot water and teas, coffee - right at bottom of trek to the lake, and a great view - dinner was yummy and good portion size, soup, snack, main, dessert

Cons: - shower was lukewarm - the lunch sandwiches could be better, and include more than one thing. You must pay for each ingredient, and it wasn’t that much inside

Otherworldly accommodations in an remote and rugged location!

Pros: We booked this hostel ahead of time (the only hostel on the Salkantay trek that we booked on an app and not in person) because we weren't sure which hostels would be available at Soraypampa and knew after a long first leg from Mollepata to Soraypampa we would need a big meal and warm place to rest before day 2 (Salkantay pass). This hostel was amazing. The hosts and staff were friendly, the food was delicious (we had dinner, breakfast, and I ordered additional sandwiches), free tea and hot water. The location in Soraypampa was beautiful - the entire area is nested in a valley between rugged snow mountains peaks, smaller mountain ranges sub alpine, and is just awe inspiring. We rented one of the glass topped bungalows and had a full view of the stars all night. We slept great, ate a ton of delicious food, and were set up for success on the trek by the staff!

Cons: The stars were so beautiful and unobstructed that I had a hard time getting back to sleep after waking up in the middle of the night. I needed rest but couldn't stop taking in the milky way, shooting starts, constellations, etc. I have never seen stars so dense and bright!

Pros: My friends and I stayed here for our first night of the Salkantay trail. This hostel was extremely helpful and reached out to us to let us know about strikes that were occurring and organised travel for us to ensure we could make it for our self organised trek and gave us an extra night stay to achieve it. The facilities are very comfortable and there are showers and flushing toilets. The food here is incredible and highly generous. The views of Salkantay that surround this property are also stunning. The rooms themself are comfortable and each bed has multiple layers of blankets so I did not feel Cold. The rooms are otherwise quite basic but they do the job
